MHPG/Sandstone Village Taste of History

Thursday June 15th-Sunday June 18th

Thursday June 15th:

12:00: Noon registration opens. Open set up, modern vehicles allowed in camp all day

20:00: Registration closes

Friday June 16th:

08:00: Registration opens. Modern vehicles will be shuttled to parking as soon as set up is complete. Parking is half a mile down the road and within walking distance if you do not want to use the shuttle.

09:00: Local news crews will be on site to advertise and film the set up and event for Saturday

09:00 - 17:00: Public will be free to walk around the camps and observe set up and any interpretation in the period camps.

18:00-19:00: Reenactor only swap meet, blanket sales on parade ground (not open to public).

19:00- Shuttle provided to Amherst downtown area for sponsored re-enactor pub crawl. All participants must be in uniform.

Saturday June 17th:

08:00: Sandstone Village is providing a free breakfast to reenactors and vendors with passes.

8:30: All non period vehicles must be off property

09:00: Event opens to public

09:30: Opening Ceremony 

10:00: Firing demos for public start at designated area and are organized starting with the earliest time period to the most modern. 

12:00: Field kitchens expected to start serving to public. Some may start earlier if they are ready.

14:00: Firing demos for public start at designated area and are organized starting with the earliest time period to the most modern. 

15:50:  Presentation meals to be delivered to the gazebo for judging.

16:00: Judging of meals begins

17:00: Gates close.

18:00: Event closes to public, non period vehicles permitted to be loaded in camp, not encouraged to stay in camp.

18:30: Event sponsored beer garden opens to reenactors in uniform and vendors with passes

19:00: USO Swing dance begins. Not open to the public, Reenactors and guests only.

Sunday June 18th

09:00: Site is open to the public, no restrictions on modern vehicles, tear down or movement. 

17:00: Site closes
